What the DVD says:

A college student returns to her dorm room after class and discovers she is the winner of an all-expenses paid vacation to the Red Wolf Inn. Before she can share her good fortune with her parents, she and two other girls are whisked away to begin their vacation of a lifetime. When one of the guests suddenly disappears, the young woman doesn't believe the explanation the old couple who run the inn gives her concerning the strange goings on at the Red Wolf.

Plot:

Regina McKee, college girl biking around campus returns to her dorm room and learns she has won a contest with an all-expenses paid free vacation. She heads off on her trip but is unable to contact her parents of her good luck.

John, the 20-something grandson of Evelyn and Henry who run the Red Wolf Inn, drives her to the lodge.

No vacancy on the Bates Hotel...
Regina meets the other girls, Edwina and Pamela, who are staying there, too. She tries calling her mom but the phone isn't working.

At dinner, the lodge guests are being stuffed for dinner...Henry and Evelyn are celebrating that Pamela is leaving. Later that night, Regina sneaks into the kitchen and is shocked by John wielding a knife before she can check out the walk-in-freezer..Evelyn talks Regina down from John's attitude..

The next day, John and Regina are playing on the beach. However, he gets distracted when he sees he's caught a shark and has to punch it...

I think Quint from Jaws would approve of me handling this shark!!!

That night, everyone is celebrating Edwina who is going to leave the next day...Later, everyone is party-pooped. Edwina packs her bag... John wants to talk Evelyn about Regina...

Edwina is knocked out by group of white-coats: Henry, Evelyn, and John. They take her in the freezer...

In the morning, Regina finds that Edwina is gone. She tries calling her mom when Evelyn cuts off the call.

She tries to get John to explain what is going on but he doesn't spill. A cop, Benjamin, drives up, to the lodge. Regina runs up to him and half-explains everything but stops when he calls Henry and Evelyn his grandparents.

Henry and Evelyn drive into town. Regina tries talking John into running away with her. He refuses. Grabbing the keys, she learns the secret in the walk-in freezer with a few severed heads.

Running to the beach, swimming to a nearby boat, she reaches a near beach and reaches the highway. Unfortunately, she is picked up by Henry and Evelyn.

That night, it's her going away party. They want her to eat. Suddenly, she realizes how Pam and Edwina were eating before they left. Later, she is sent to her room.

John wants Regina for himself. His grandparents explain how they'll get another girl for him...

John and Regina sneak out. However, they can't get far-away with Henry disabling the truck. They rush off into the woods but dogs are sent after them. John beats the dogs off. Henry and Evelyn try talking John down. Henry chases Regina with a butcher knife.

Later at the Red-Wolf Inn, Regina is singing as she fixes a meal for Johnin the kitchen. Close up of the freezer with Henry and Evelyn's heads winking...

How to not suffer from a sharp painful below the neck-injury...

What I say:

Well, with a title like Terror at the Red Wolf Inn, one has the idea to be expecting some kind of lycanthropic connections. Maybe, I was hoping too much of Wolf Man. Ginger Snaps, Dog Soldiers, etc... Terror at the Red Wolf Inn gets one to think werewolf by the title but that'd be false advertising...

The creepy hotels, motels, and lodges at the far off places seems to have plenty of places for Psycho, Motel Hell, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Undertaker and His Pals. Well, the cannibalistic movies of derranged families has grown exponententially since Rob Zombie started directing.

Pomp and Circumstances, the typical graduation music, being played at the first dinner while everyone was eating ribs somehow elevates it almost to the degree of Dr. Hannibal Lector's love of liver...Listening to the characters talk about how tender, juicy, etc the meat is, you get a pretty good idea of what the big shock is...

These aren't characters that are going to have ideas pass in the same light year as them. They'd have brain cells firing so far away camp counselors would be safe from Jason Voorhees for the rest of their lives...

This movie almost seems like a TV-movie, not gory like a theaterical movie but does have a few more than usual graphic scenes... However, it started out as 90 minutes but is 78 minutes in the 100 movie DVD sets floating around.

This is the kind of movie one wouldn't expect to make much sense out of...Like that's a big surprise...Thankfully, it didn't have too many parts of the plot that needed much logic from. How many grandkids did Henry and Evelyn have? Deputy Benjamin only popped up once. Of course, he might just have been calling them that as terms of affection...

"I'm a winner!!"
"We have vegetables, Baby John..."
"I can't eat another bite..."
"Shark!!! Shark!! Shark!!! Shark!!! Shark!!!"
"Careful, Baby John, this is course Grade-A..."
"We'll get you a nice skinny girl..."

Morals of the Story
