Plot:
A man is hit on the head and carried away at night.
Credits roll...
The Wax Museum has another group going through it. Doctor Karol is telling the crowd about the dummies. Guillotine (inventor of the
guillotine), Ghandi, Stalin, Pancho Villa, and Gary Cooper...All of them are historical figures. But, I never thought that Gary Cooper was
on the same level as Ghandi and Stalin...Susan the photographer is taking pictures for an article to be written by her soon to be
brother-in-law. They go to everyone's favorite part of the wax museum: the scary part.
That night, Dr Karol is over at Professor Halpin's lab. (To be fair, I never heard them use the Professor's last name) Some high tech
video equipment starts up: the video phone. Samson is contacting the Professor about his last case. Samson discovered that one of the
Professor's colleagues was murdered by an unnamed foreign power. Professor explains about Samson to Dr. Karol. He's a man of mystery and
no one knows his name or his face for that matter...
The next afternoon, Susan is taking pictures in museum alone. She has that feeling that something bad will happen. Creepy music starts
to play. Cheap scare time as Susan is scared by the sudden appearance of Doctor Karol, who starts his creepy rant about how monsters exist...
Susan decides to get out of there while the getting is good. As she's leaving, it is already dark outside, and Susan isn't alone. The
ambusher from the very first of the movie sneaks up on her and grabs her. In the process, Susan drops her camera which is found by a couple
of little old ladies. Her sister, Gloria, and her boyfriend, Charles the reporter are beginning to worry about Susan. One of the little old
ladies that find the camera returns it to the address on it which is where Gloria and Charles are. This is proof that something is wrong. They
go to the police to have them look for Susan. They all go to the wax museum to question Dr. Karol.
Dr. Karol goes back to the Professor's lab. Everyone suspects Karol behind the string of disappearances including Susan. Samson could
prove that Doctor Karol is innocent and find who is ruining his good name. Well, he could, but Samson has got a match to wrestle. 2 falls
out of 3. Mexican wrestling. Yeah, mat wrestling none of that luche libre wrestling. Old school stuff...The heel starts fighting the crowd
after being thrown out of the ring. He gets back into the ring and Santo pins him. The match continues as Samson has to pin him again. Finally,
we learn for sure that Samson is actually Santo. The movie maybe badly dubbed. But, they don't dub over an auditorium full of wrestling fans
screaming "Santo"....
Dr. Karol convinces Samson to help him prove his innocence. Samson agrees as a knife is thrown at Karol. Samson chases the would-be assassin
down and starts to wrestle him. Wannabe assassin is street fighting while Samson is using pins and holds. But, who's going to count the guy out
Santo and raise your hand in victory? The wannabe assassin manages to escape.
Meanwhile elsewhere, someone is sneaking into an apartment. With catlike grace, he moves in the dark, his cape gently flapping. Gloria and
Charles come into the apartment. Santo pins Charles, who isn't that angry about it. Who would be disturbed if he were attacked by a guy in a
mask and cape? Well, they ask Santo why he's looking into the case. Charles has dug up some research on the good Doctor Karol. Karol was in
WWII and hideously disfigured. Charles is extremely suspicious of Karol. Santo went to the apartment for Susan's camera to check it for
fingerprints in his lab. He's got a lab? Santo has a Bat Cave?
Just so you don't forget. Karol reads the Professor a threatening letter that was sent to him. The writer threatens to burn his museum
down. Professor has been asking Karol if he has any enemies. Apparently, during the war, Karol did something which angered some people. He's
being very vague about it. These mysterious enemies sabotaged one of Karol's earlier labs which resulted as Karol being disfigured on his hands
and chest. What was he wearing when the accident occurred? Don't doctors have plenty of protective wear when working with whatever Karol was?
Santo is examining the letter that was sent to Karol in the Santo Cave. Bat Cave...Whatever he calls it... He compares the letter to one that
was typed by the Professor. Both of the letters match identically. So does, that mean the Professor is behind everything. Santo uses his video
phone to call the Professor and leaves a message on the reel to reel answering machine. Doctor Karol is working on another wax dummy. Santo talks
to him trying to find the Professor who was to attend a lecture with Karol. Santo would investigate now but, he's due at the arena for a
match. Wrestling time again. Italian cannibal movies have gratuitous scenes of animal cruelty. Mexican wrestling movies have gratuitous
scenes of wrestling. But, the only time Santo isn't wearing a cape is when he's wrestling.
Back in the wax museum, Doctor Karol goes into his secret lab. It has the standard mad scientist chemistry set with the giant bubbling tank
which comes separately. We learn that Professor Halpin was captured by Karol's lackeys. So, officially, Doctor Karol is evil. Karol doesn't like
having to kill Halpin because he's a true friend. This doesn’t seem to bother Karol as he has set the Professor to take the fall for the
disappearances. And has the Professor thrown into the bubbling tank of wax. Doctor Karol is ranting about how he's creating a new world...Blah,
blah, blah... Susan is brought into the lab. Karol talks about how he'll make her ugly. It turns out some of his wax monsters are alive. Not the
famous ones like Frankenstein, just generic ugly ones.
Santo calls the chief of police trying to find the Professor. He doesn't think the Halpin is to blame. Santo asks the cops to search the
wax museum again. Detective masked wrestlers have a lot of pull with the cops. The police search the museum again. The cops close the wax museum
to protect Karol and everyone else as well. Karol sneaks into Halpin's lab and uses the video phone to spy on Santo. Charles calls Santo. Is Santo's
lab an unlisted number? Apparently, Karol's face hasn't changed since WWII. He looks the same age for almost 20 years. Earlier, Charles thought it
was someone impersonating Doctor Karol. Santo reveals he thinks Karol isn't as innocent as he appears. But, Santo has another match. Wrestling
again...Santo jumps from the ring.
Susan awakens in the lab. Understandably, she freaks out when she sees Karol's evil lackeys. Doctor Karol sends his lackeys to kill
Santo. Susan begs for death. Karol begins a series of injections to turn Susan into a panther girl. We can only assume this won't be the
cute cat girl we've learned about in anime. This would be a safe assumption with the way Karol hates beauty. And with the way Karol wants
to punish the beauty in others. Ok, he's got some serious issues. A good thing he doesn't think about a person's inner beauty.
In Santo's secret lab, Santo is examining the photos from Susan's camera. The lackey's come around through the side door. This secret lab
isn't a very good secret. I thought the secret lab Spiderman had in his basement was lame. How did they manage to get all the equipment installed
right under the nose of Aunt May? Better, yet, why did Aunt May allow Peter Parker to live in the basement with Iceman and Firestar? Now back to
the movie. And, it isn't even a cave. Santo's spider sense gets him to turn off the lights and take cover as the lackeys open fire. These are
some pretty bad lackeys. They do a bad job of killing Santo. Kick him while he's down and run away. But, Santo is in hot pursuit. The fight
continues. Somehow, it doesn't seem very farfetched for a guy in wrestling tights and a cape to fight 2 guys in the park at night. The Max
Shreck looking Nosferatu lackey throws a knife in Santo's back while he's fighting the other minion. The cops come to the rescue and chase the
lackeys away.
Karol is happy about the death of Santo. That only leaves Charles and Gloria to eliminate. Karol puts a handkerchief on the phone to
impersonate Santo and calls Charles telling him he has evidence against Karol and wants to meet. Charles calls Gloria tells her about the
meeting and if he doesn't contact her in a couple of hours call the cops. At least, Charles has the sense to carry a gun. The cops bring
Santo to his lab. Karol is using the video phone to watch the cops over the lifeless body of Santo. When the video phone's antenna stops
rotating, Santo jumps off the table. He had to fake his death when he learned he was being spied on in his lab. Charles pulls the gun on
Karol demands to know where Susan is. He didn't believe it was Santo on the phone. More than that Santo's car wasn't parked in front, how
can you fool these reporters. One of the lackeys sneaks up and disarms Charles. Well, Gloria is worried and starts calling the cops. While
waiting for an answer the other lackey grabs her.
In the truly secret lab of Doctor Karol, Susan, Gloria, and Charles are captured. I am not going to comment on the underlying meaning of
chaining Charles to the Wall and strapping Susan and Gloria to gurneys. Santo is driving the Santomobile, sporty little convertible, to the
museum. Karol explains the how the process works. Some type of Rube-Goldberg contraption carries the liquid through a series of tubes and
eventually through a showerhead which will convert people into wax dummies. Doctor Karol is talking about how he gets off on the suffering
of others. Santo is coming to save the day. The liquid slowly travels through the tubes. Santo is slowly getting there. The wax monsters are
starting to get antsy in there cages. The only thing slower than Santo getting to the lab is that liquid going through the tubes. Santo
jumps through the window and lands on Nosferatu. Karol's secret lab has a window? Santo manages to wheel Susan's gurney out from underneath
the showerhead which dispenses hot wax...
Santo keeps fighting the lackeys. Chemistry set finally is toppled and explodes. Santo manages to throw one lackey into the vat of wax, which
is where Professor Halpin is residing. Karol hightails it out of the lab into the hall of horrors. It is Santo versus Noseferatu. Well, Nosferatu
gets electrocuted when he crashes into a fuse box. Doctor Karol is whipping the monsters. Santo is untying everyone. Santo has to fight through
all the wax monsters to get at Karol. Apparently, the monsters aren't that effective. They turn on Doctor Karol. As the monsters slowing start
heading in the lab, Santo has to fight them all. Santo manages to get them all into a pile and pours the hot wax, remains of Professor Halpin, and
the remains of one lackey on them. But, we don't see any trace that people were thrown in the vat.
The cops finally arrive at the scene. Everyone is happy and Santo drives off in the Santomobile...
