What the box says:

After narrowly escaping the horrors of the underground Hive facility, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is quickly thrust back into a war raging above ground between the living and the Undead. As the city is locked down under quarantine, Alice joins a small band of elite soldiers, led by Valentine (Sienna Guillory, Love, Actually) and Carlos (Oded Fehr, The Mummy Returns), enlisted to rescue the missing daughter of Dr. Ashford, the creator of the mutating T-virus. It's a heart-pounding race against time as the group faces off against the hordes of blood-thirsty zombies, stealthy Lickers, mutant canines, and the most sinister foe yet.

Written and produced by the visionary director of Resident Evil, Paul W.S. Anderson (Alien Vs. Predator) and directed by Alex Witt, RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE is a superior sci-fi suspense sequel.

Plot:

Alice explains what happened in the first Resident Evil. Of course, the evil and super-powerful Umbrella Corporation decides to reopen the Hive, the bioweapons lab. The men sent to reopen are easily gotten.

A flock of SUVs start evacuating a number of high-level Umbrella Corporation scientists, etc...Dr. Ashford's daughter is being taken out of the city. However, a car accident loses her in the city. The rest of the SUVs get out. 13 hours later, people are being attacked throughout the city.

Jill Valentine storms into the police station and caps several of the zombies.

You'll take me seriously in this outfit, if I have to shoot every zombie through the head myself...

Alice awakens and leaves the hospital.

Umbrella has Raccoon City quarantined with only 1 way out. The people are inspected before being let out.

Elsewhere, some zombies are trying to find someone for their feast on the top of a skyscraper. Carlos Oliviera, bungee jumps from a helicopter to save the lady. She jumps off the building after seeing she was bitten.

Cain, Umbrella Corporation bigwig, orders the gate to be sealed and Starts to gun down some of the people wanting out of the city.

The cops are continually trying to battle the rampaging zombies throughout the city.

Ashford learns that Cain won't let anyone look for his daughter. Ashford starts hacking into the city computer systems. He finds Alice, who's loaded for bear, wandering around the city and several others.

Jill, Terri (reporter), and Jill's cop friend (who was bitten by a zombie) hide in a church.

With my zombie bitten friend, the career oriented reporter, I'm bound to survive...
They manage to seal the doors to keep the zombies out. However, they realize there is something in with them: Lickers.

Couldn't someone have opened the window for me?
Almost out of ammo when Alice crashes through a stained glass window on a motorcycle and promptly dispatching the lickers. Let the Matrix bullet time fu ensue...

Zombies are still attacking throughout the city with the cops and the small squad of Carlos Olivera and his men. Ashford sees them on on a security camera.

Outside the city at the Umbrella Base, Cain decides to order Nemesis activated. It is dropped into the city.

I was sent back to the past to eliminate the T-1000...
Olivera's men find a few weapon cases at the drop site.

A group of STARS (Special Tactics and Rescue Squad) run into Nemesis who is ordered by Cain to kill them.

Alice, Jill, Teri, get a phone call from Ashford. He will get them out of the city if they find his daughter who is hiding at her school. He reveals that the Umbrella Corporation will nuke the city at sunrise. Nemesis attacks Alice.

A face only a plastic surgeon could love if they really needed to pay some serious gambling debts.
Let the guns and explosions ensue. Jill and Teri head after the girl and pick up LJ on the way.

At the school, they split up to search for Ashford's daughter. Carlos saves LJ. Zombie kids dispatch Teri. Jill finally finds Angie, Ashford's daughter. Some zombie dogs almost get Jill. However, one of Carlos's men save her and is puppy chowed.

By the time Jill, Angie, LJ, and Carlos get out. Alice catches up to them. Alice and Angie are able to sense that each other has the T-Virus. Angie carries the cure. Her father made the virus and the anti-virus which made Angie strong enough to walk, etc...Ashford calls Alice and tells her they'll have to take the last chopper out.

Cain catches Ashford.

Alice gives Carlos the anti-virus since he was bitten. Alice explains her part in the story of the evil of the Umbrella Corporation.

They head to the chopper site. Cain catches them. He orders Alice to fight Nemesis. She refuses, at first. Cain shoots Dr. Ashford.

This is my boomstick...
Let the Alice versus Nemesis fight ensue. Alice impales him and finally realizes that Nemesis is Matt (the guy who was infected at the end of the first Resident Evil).

Cain orders Alice to kill Nemesis. She refuses.

Carlos and Jill break their shackles. Let the gunfight ensue. Nemesis protects Alice as the zombies start to swarm. LJ, Jill, Angie, Carlos, and Alice take off in the chopper. Alice tosses Cain to the zombies.

The nuke hits Raccoon city. The shockwave catches up to the chopper. Alice is hit be piece of shrapnel. The chopper crashes.

The Umbrella people find the chopper and Alice's body.

The new report montages cover the Raccoon City disaster where the nuclear reacted went critical. The footage Kill and Carlos had released showing people gunned down by Umbrella security agents is labeled as a hoax.

In a lab, Alice awakens. The scientists are studying her. At first, she can't remember anything but suddenly, everything comes back to her. Alice starts smacking the scientists and the security guards around easily.

Maybe she's gentically altered with it. Maybe it's some makeup commercial...
Walking out, she is surrounded by Umbrella troops when an SUV pulls up. Jill Valentine, Carlos Olivera, and LJ are able to impersonate their way in and claim security clearance to take her out. As they're leaving, the scientist calls the guards to let them go and activate the Alice program.

What I say:

A coalition of great minds has united once again for a common goal to make the world a slightly better place. A goal that is truly inspiring to once again draw our Ten of fans' attention to a roundtable. One of the new B-movie genres of the past 15 years or so is the video game movie. While Uwe Boll has in short time almost become the patron saint of video game directors from movies like House of the Dead which for "normal" folk would be enough to revile. I won't apologize, the more of his movies I've seen, the more entertaining they become (and I'm not saying anything for fear of him boxing me..). So The video game roundtable where hopefully, you'll only use the joystick for necessary actions.

The end of Resident Evil left Milla Jovovich seeing the wreckage of the destruction of Raccoon city and preparing for anything to attack her...Of course, your first bit of survival equipment better be a shotgun in a desolate city...Raccoon City fell apart as the zombies went wild in a non-Spring Break fashion...

Call this the confession paragraph...Can't say I've been that big on hunting down most of the newer big zombies movies like 28 Days Later or the new Dawn of the Dead(well, I've got the DVD right beside my TV just haven't watched it over the past year or so...), that is going to let me look at this movie a bit kinder. Zombies rampaging through the city as in only a few hours the city pretty much falls totally apart. Besides not being to up on current zombies movies. I have a remake of a confession from the Resident Evil, I'm not very much of a video gamer. So I can't go into the much-loved detailed cannonical ramblings I do for comic book movies...Somewhere, a great sigh of collective relief is being heard throughout the internet.

European models just need to be genetically altered to dispatch 300 pound super zombies carrying railguns with ease.. Somehow, whenever, Milla Jovovich's Alice needs something she magically deus ex machinas it. Yes, somehow, she gets the super power to do something whether it is automatically sensing whenever anyone is infected with the zombie virus, surviving explosive shockwaves, or running down skyscrapers. At the end where she starts controlling the security monitors and causes the guard to start bleeding. If she gets much more powerful she could take on Famke Jansen's Dark Phoenix from the X-Men movies. OK, Milla Jovovich has come close to becoming the new stereotypical patron lady of hot butt-kicking chick in tight clothing from other genre movies like the Fifth Element, UltraViolet, and of course the aforementioned Resident Evil movies.

What is the best that can be said about Jill Valentine? Sienna Guillory runs around in a mini-skirt and tube top shooting zombies. That is pretty much the extent of her abilities in this movie. Well, looking pouty is an also given talent.

Carlos runs around shooting things. He may be more recognized as being the guy who helped Brendan Frasier in the Mummy movies.

Most of the characters join up in groups just trying survive that keep slowly getting grinded down into smaller groups until joining up into one group. Alice joined Jill's group. Carlos's group gets whittled down before joining in with Alice and Jill.

The incredibly super-powerful mega-corporation that can control everything and get away with that much as well. Has there ever been a single movie mega-corporation that wasn't totally reprehensible? Let's get back to the Umbrella Corporation or it's friendlier name Giant EvilCo. Wouldn't biological experiments best be left before getting to the re-animation of the dead? Or better yet, not have a major experimental research facility underneath a major city.

The first Resident Evil movie was directed by Paul W. S. Anderson. He gave us Event Horizon and the Mortal Kombat movies. He does have a lot to explain about the pitch black AVP: Alien vs. Predator and the remake of Death Race. For this one, he only wrote it.

What are the zombie movie requirements? Headshots or severing the head from the bodies stop zombies except in Return of the Living Dead or Re-Animator. Has there ever be any zombie movies without one of the main characters or their friend or family who slowly turns into a zombie?

We have the scientist that pretty much connects all the characters together. He sees the couple of groups trying to fight through the zombies and then decides to deal with them for finding his daughter (who sounds creepy enough to the basis for the Red Queen from the first movie). Scientist magically hacks into the every security camera system in the city. The facial recognition software bit definitely powerful enough to scare George Orwell into turning in his grave if he hasn't been re-animated into a zombie yet.

I'd like to think that after over 300 reviews most of my ten of fans have an abnormal appreciation of my movie taste. Some movies aren't going to be reviewed on this site. Resident Evil: Apocalypse based on most cases wouldn't be high art. Video game characters run around and shoot zombies. However, compared to Doom, this is a deeply-thought provoking film.

Quotable Dialogue

"Trouble was they didn't stay dead."
"Excuse me ma'am, there's been an incident."
"We don't need weapons. We need evacuation."
"We're assets, Nicholai. Expendable assets... and we've just been expended. "
"Don't shoot, don't shoot. He's cool. He made a deal with Dr. Doom, same as you. "
"You missed one."

Morals of the Story

Hit and runs don't require any attention and are totally ignored.
Police officers aren't bothered by anyone getting shot in the head in police stations.
Zombies see in Infra-Red.
Graveyards don't have zombies.
Garbage dumpsters are rocket launcher proof.
Dogs love being hit in the head with stew pots.
Running down a building on a bungee cord is cool.
Children with English accents are inherently creepy.
